IRS Extends Deadline for Furnishing Forms 1095-B and 1095-C

On Friday, November 18, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) issued a Notice extending the deadline for furnishing 2016 Forms 1095-B and 1095-C from January 31, 2017 to March 2, 2017.

These extensions apply to all filers, including Applicable Large Employers, health insurers, and employers that sponsor self-insured health plans.

Due to this extension, some individual taxpayers may not receive a Form 1095-B or Form 1095-C by the time they are ready to file their 2016 tax return. Taxpayers do not need to wait to receive these forms before filing their returns.
